Plane, train, subway, tuk-tuk, car, ferry, bus

A lot of buses. Did I mention a lot of walking? Oh, and rides on the back of a motorbike. And open pickup beds. We've been moving around by a wide variety of transportation since we left Malaysia for Thailand.

We were grateful to find cheap public transit around Bangkok; SkyTrain, metro (like a subway but suspended above traffic), and buses. And everywhere here you can choose between motorbikes, tuk-tuks, cars, trucks, vans, and boats to taxi around. Lucky for us, since our favorite site for finding new restaurants internationally, HappyCow, has a lot of vegetarian/vegan eating suggestions to visit in Thailand!

After a few days of exploring around Bangkok, including a little shopping, we decided to head south by train to Surat Thani, where we would connect by bus and ferry to the island of Koh Phangan. We wanted to experience the lovely beaches and also see one of the biggest beach parties in the world, the Full Moon Party. Although the island has unfortunately been a bit overrun by tourism, the natural beauty is amazing, and Full Moon truly is a great party on the beach.
